The Musician and the Artist - the Vulnerability and the Trust ...

Amanda Palmer brings it to the point.

              The Musicians and Artists

      V U L N E R A B I L I T Y   &   T R U S T

Artists and Musicians have always been connectors and openers.                         This is why I L O V E my Living - this is not only a JOB - To hold, to trust and to plunk down into the audience, to connect and to share - that's my live about.
Seeing and listening to Amanda Palmer on   www.upworthy.com - An 8-Foot-Tall Woman is Destroying The Entire Music Industry.
where she talks about her experience with her audience and fans:
" ... Jumping off the stage into the crowd is exactly like asking if you can crash on someone's couch. If you ask people to catch you, they will. ... Amanda relives stripping naked and experiences a ridiculous level of trust and vulnerability with her fans ... Instead of asking How do we "make" people pay for the Art ?  ... Why don't we ask: How do we L E T  people pay for the Art?..." it triggered me.

About 5 minutes before presenting on stage, most of us Artist or Musician we have the feeling we are going to decease. We call it : jitters. The heart is beating like hell, the pulse rate is shortly going through the roof, and some of us have the feeling they can't leave the toilet.
There are so many things running through my head shortly before I present myself on stage - It's like an express train's speeding through my pate ... But than, the first step on stage, the first feeling of the lights, the first sound, the first connection to the audience, the first feeling the camera's getting connected with my essence of this moment NOW ........This is it!  It's giving and receiving. A marvelous feeling, a heart - touching - connecting - energy -feeling.
A brilliant teacher reminded me, when I was talking to her, that I don't know if I have the guts to showcase myself naked on stage, - " trust and try it, and don't forget to enjoy it!" was her answer. I gazed at her, enjoy?! But the seconds before entering the stage naked - for me it was to conquer my biggest mountain, my biggest call out with my demons - I heard the word in my head. Enjoy ! And I enjoyed and I trusted, and I gave and I received. And I was blessed and very thankful.
That's what I'm allowed to witness at the Club I'm working in right now. There are musicians coming to there LIVE Gigs, on tour, so every evening a Gig. And guess what? - The most popular Musicians are having buck fever the little space between jumping on stage performing LIVE infront of the audience and the minutes before the show.
And I sometimes give them a hug, or make them smile. And they are thankful.

Andy Timmons, a great Musician ( playing since 15 jears with Olivia Newton John as here Studio Musician ) before playing  " Lucy in the sky "
he announced through his micro:  " This song is especially for Lucy, we want to thank you."  I was deeply touched.
That' s giving and receiving.
And it makes the world a tiny little better.
